Behind the Scenes of Victoria Richard’s Wedding, Featured in Vogue
Working as florists, we are honored to work on many weddings, but when the opportunity arose to create the florals for Victoria Richard’s day, we knew it was going to be something spectacular. Vogue covering the wedding felt like a dream come true—and a testament to the level of artistry, dedication, and attention to detail that went into every aspect of this stunning celebration.
Victoria, a fashion designer from New Orleans who now calls New York City home, was launching her bridal design company with an unforgettable wedding. Every detail of her wedding was meticulously planned, from the hand-beaded veil to the elegant, modern lines of her bridal look. We take pride in working with couples who understand that every piece of the puzzle is essential. Victoria’s vision for her big day was no different.
A Vision for Immaculate Conception
The ceremony took place at the awe-inspiring Immaculate Conception Church, a venue known for its stunning architecture. Our team was tasked with transforming the space into something extraordinary—no small feat when working in such an iconic setting. We decided on a cascading installation that would stretch all the way from the top of the church, filling the space with pure elegance.
The design was modern and clean, with a minimalist approach that felt both luxurious and effortlessly chic. We wanted to evoke a sense of timelessness, and what better way to do that than with an all-white floral installation? The design was a one-off, unlike anything we had done before. The challenge of working at such a height was real, but we were up for it and knew the outcome would be incredible.
With an array of anthuriums, tulips, and garden roses, the installation was truly a masterpiece. The white flowers were an embodiment of beauty and vitality, creating a contrast against the church’s three levels of stained glass windows. The overall effect was sensational.
A Reception to Remember at the Ritz-Carlton
Following the ceremony, the reception took place at the elegant Ritz-Carlton, where the design took on a more vibrant tone. We used deep purples, plums, and aubergines, creating a magical jewel-toned atmosphere. The floral arrangements became focal points in the space, bringing the room to life with rich, luxurious color.
But even in a venue as opulent as the Ritz, we didn’t forget our core philosophy of clean, modern lines. We introduced fun, new draping styles to add an element of whimsy while still remaining sophisticated. We wanted the florals to feel fresh and modern, without overshadowing the stunning design elements of the venue itself.
The bouquets were sublime. Every flower was chosen with care, ensuring that the florals would complement the overall aesthetic and feel of the day. Kim stayed by Victoria’s side throughout the event, following her with wax sealant, Crowning Glory, to preserve the delicate bouquet flowers in the New Orleans heat. We knew how fragile the florals could be under the sun and humidity, but with Kim’s attention to detail, the flowers remained fresh and flawless all day.
A Challenge Worth Taking On
Designing for a wedding like Victoria Richard’s was a challenging but incredibly rewarding experience. The design deck we created was carefully curated and went through multiple revisions. We wanted to ensure that every element, every flower, every color, worked in harmony. The fact that we could bring Victoria’s vision to life and see it featured in Vogue was a moment of validation for our team. We are always striving to push the boundaries of floral design, and this wedding was the perfect canvas to do just that.
“I think the most important part about this event, was the trust Victoria placed in me to create and execute her vision. Clients who trust you to "do what you do best" is humbling (and fun!),” said Kim.
It’s not often that we get the chance to create a design that stands as a true work of art. Victoria’s wedding was a celebration of love, creativity, and beauty—an experience we will never forget. The final result wasn’t just a collection of flowers—it was a reflection of Victoria’s vision, her artistry, and her unique style. And we were lucky enough to be part of that story.
We’re so proud of how everything turned out and can’t wait to see what’s next for Victoria Richard. After all, if this wedding was any indication, her future in bridal design is as bright and beautiful as the flowers we got to create for her on her special day.
